I’m your host, John Derrickson, and would like to express my appreciation to you for including me on your exploration of the fine art of music.
Music has been part of my life since I was performing as a young child and aquiring my Masters Degree at the University of Cincinnati. It stayed with me through my career building to be the Director of Music for the Dayton City School System.
It continues today. After a quarter century of teaching our Dayton-area children, I get nearly as much joy from the musical achievements from my students as the parents and students, and look forward to helping you broaden your musical talents.

From classical to pop and country to rock, I want to bring out your unique voice and structure the lessons to enhance your individual strengths and style and are better prepared for performances and onward in their musical careers.

I bet you need a little help learning to play that new choir music, don’t you? Or maybe you long to claim the karaoke crown at that music club down the street. College seems to pose a new set of challenges, so maybe you should bush up on those keyboard skills. And you’re constantly hearing sweet little Debbie singing her rendition of the latest pop tunes at dinnertime. These, and a mireide of other personal endeavors produce goals and objectives we magically turn into reality. And we do all this while having fun! Because music should be fun!

Growing up in the Dayton area, John first started performing as an accompanist for his home Summit Church choir in Trotwood, Ohio. This young twelve-year-old initiated a lifelong career of cultivating, arranging, and producing quality musical programs and projects
